Chicago for ALA

I convinced my boss to send me to the ALA conference in Chicago. Not only that, but I also convinced her to send me a day early so that I could see the city.

So here I am a day before ALA starts and I’m living the life in Chicago.

Here’s what happened today.

Went to a neat little place called Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe. Ordered the veggie omelette and got fruit and pancakes with it. Bonus! A great bang for your buck.

Then went to the bean. If you’re from Chicago or have visited then you know the one. It’s actually called Cloud Gate. It looks like this:

Then went to the Art Institute of Chicago. Sooooooooooo many amazing things. Ran out of time but had a blast. I cannot even begin to describe how many hours I could spend here. It’s amazing. Just take my word for it.

If you are in Chicago for ALA or visiting for any reason at any time, please go and visit the Art Institute. There’s something for everyone.

Here’s some highlights:

After this amazing visit we stopped off at Magnolia Bakery for some cupcakes since it was a friend’s birthday and…why not…

I had the chocolate pudding parfait. Here’s a tempting picture to entice you:

But the absolute highlight was seeing Aladdin at the Cadillac Palace Theater. I’ll post a blog about this soon but I’m so tired right now that I simply cannot do it.

Some photos of the theater are below; you’ll just have to trust me and go see Aladdin if you get the chance. It was actually spectacular.

A fantastic and exhausting day and we haven’t even started the BIG CONFERENCE.

But I did get these great pics before settling in for the night.

Goodnight Chicago.
